*Snap... B. Bernice Elementary School! I wrote my immediate reaction to this breaking story yesterday. I was literally still in the Fox News offices when my editor asked me sit down and drop three paragraphs in response. I did 500 words. The issue of the school's response and role in this entire matter is still by far the most troubling element to it. Well America's Newsroom allowed me to hold court again this morning, so I took them up on their offer. Regular Newsroom viewers notice that Alyson Camerotta was in for Megyn Kelly. The reason... Megyn was busy giving birth. Her first child, a son named Edward Yates after his two grandfathers. They are going to call him "Yates." Everyone at Xtreme Media, Townhall, and Baldwin/McCullough Radio wishes Megyn, hubby, and baby well! I'm joining them in about 29 weeks! And YES... I know I totally flunked "Baby Karl's Secret Shout Out!"If you missed it here's how it all went down:

Upstate NEW YORK, don't miss this tonight!!!!

Tonight 5:30pm Last year I had the great honor to address the Conservative Party's Annual Convention in Albany. At that event I got to meet lots of morally minded locals from across the Empire State that want to see change come to the most liberal/dysfunctional state in the northeast.
Tonight at Orchard Vali Golf Club in Lafayette, I will do my best to encourage the troops in upstate New York on the real opportunities we have in front of us. And believe it or not friends, the signs are good. Americans are paying attention to Washington and increasingly are dissatisfied with what they are getting out of it. Truth be known most Americans would prefer a little national defense and maybe taking care of the interstates... the rest of it - just leave alone.
I will have fun... we will poke through the theoretical promises from Obama's campaign that have turned into broken promises, we will envision a nation of Tea-Parties on July 4th, and we will introduce a radical idea into the next federal election cycle -- morality.
If you're in upstate come join us. Tickets are $99 each, $150 for two. Call 422-1675 for information and reservations. And I'm supplying a little personalized gift to everyone in the hall...

Standardized Testing: The Biased Report
|

Standardized testing has historically been the one of the best ways to evaluate students for college admission. But the National Association for College Admissions Counseling (NACAC) recently released an arguably negative analysis on the use of standardized tests, such as the SAT (Scholastic Aptitude Test). The results of the study may have been hastily interpreted by media outlets like the New York Times -- ready to proclaim a bias against minorities in these types of tests.
However, the report itself was likely biased, as it relied heavily on information from the National Center for Fair and Open Testing, also known as the Fair Test. While the Fair Test is often consulted on this matter, their anti-testing stance is not without predisposition.
CNSNews reports that the Fair Test has received $165,000 from corrupt liberal billionaire George Soros’ Institute since 2004. Soros is heavily affiliated with a litany of left-wing organizations and his big money influence often dictates messaging. The Fair Test also received money from the Woods Fund, whose board includes domestic terrorist William Ayers.
The Fair Test’s public education director Robert Schaeffer has little record of experience in educational matters, having previously worked for a “progressive” law firm. The group’s Executive Director Jesse Mermell was recently honored by left wing, pro-choice organizations NARAL and formerly served on the board of Planned Parenthood.
After consulting the Fair Test’s staff of politically active individuals, the NACAC report essentially concluded that the SAT may be unnecessary. Though the study was directed at Harvard, CNS points out that former Harvard President James Bryant Conant developed the Conant and Educational Testing Service to “reward those with intellectual merit, but without social standing, with the chance for admission to elite colleges of the day.”
With so many left wing political ties, the Fair Test is clearly an unreliable source for evaluating the merit of standardized tests. Their agenda is sure to lean that way and NACAC is irresponsible for relying on their information to support a movement to make testing optional.
Studies show that when testing is optional, national averages for SAT scores are skewed and this could disrupt college admission standards across the country and run a risk of lowering standards overall. A recent LA Times editorial said it well: "Admissions standards could stand a bit of modification, but not at the expense of academics."
Having a debate on the issues is fine but the NACAC does an injustice by relying on a politically motivated organization for “facts.”

I'm FINE!!!! One of our faithful readers asked me this intriguingly honest question today by e-mail:
I'm seriously dazed and completely confused. Would someone please explain this to me like I'm a 6 year old? How can 2 million lower income folks who are capable enough to get into Washington DC in sub zero temps in 1 day to see Obama take the oath of office of the Presidency when 200,000 couldn't get out of New Orleans at 85 degrees with four days notice?
Of course the obvious answer is. Ray Nagin isn't the mayor of DC!

the only candidate who has suffered for his country... I am a proud New Yorker. Anyone who knows me will tell you that I believe it is the greatest city in the world. I believe it has so much to offer those who come to it looking for the best chance in life. I, like many of the rest of our nation - stood by New York in earnest when we saw fellow New Yorkers jumping out of the World Trade Center towers on 9.11.2001. I, like many other Americans extended our deepest heart, effort, and affection on those who suffered, and who are still suffering today because of the pain of that loss. But the New Yorkers that are captured in this clip below, are some of the sorriest excuses for Americans I've ever witnessed. Al Qaeda would be more welcome in this ten block radius - than the man pictured above who had both shoulder blades broken because he loved his country more than his own freedom.

Will Mayor of "Chocolate City" cost another 1300 lives?

How many will die this time at his hands? Has anyone else been haunted by the fact that Mayor Ray Nagin is still in power as Mayor of New Orleans?
With Gustav chasing him and his cronies down, his crooked corrupt cohorts that were caught hoarding the emergency supplies in the Katrina aftermath still in tow you have to wonder how he will perform.
Of course he blamed Katrina all on Bush. And this after the Bush administration had repeatedly attempted to send help up to three days prior to Katrina's arrival.
Louisiana voters took care of their incompetent former Governor - electing Bobby Jindal - who has notably worked COOPERATIVELY with the feds this time around - but that doesn't change the scenario in New Orleans. There - the insane voters re-elected Nagin (likely through strong-arm tactics and outright cheating) even though he was personally responsible for the deaths of 1300 people in Katrina's wake.
The New Orleans Evacuation Emergency Plan which was put into place long before Nagin came to power states that the mayor and his staff shall use every public vehicle available to rescue and evacuate citizens who can not get out otherwise.
Mayor Nagin had 2000 school buses that remained locked prior to Katrina's arrival and once the levies began to break they were rendered useless.
Slightly more than 1300 people died, 2000 buses unused and ruined by the floods.
Ray Nagin of course built his national standing through his racist, ugly, and untoward remarks about the National Guard who came in and finally began to help those the mayor couldn't, and he was launched into the inner circles of the "civil rights" communities for launching baseless, and patently false accusations against the President. Accusations that were later proven to be untrue when then Governor Blanco's e-mail archives were made public.
Our hearts and prayers are with the people of New Orleans, we pray that the people there are able to get out ahead of time. We even pray that the incompetent, criminal, and racist mayor will attempt to do what is right this time.
After all New Orleans doesn't deserve to lose another 1300 residents only because of one man's negligent, reckless, or criminal ignorance of the laws he is charged to enforce.
