What grade would you give Barack Obama so far as President?

Does anyone take serious words seriously anymore here in Washington?

News item No. 1 concerns the testimony of Secretary of State Hillary Clinton before the House Foreign Affairs Committee on April 22. She said deteriorating security in nuclear-armed Pakistan "poses a mortal threat to the security and safety of our country and the world."

News item No. 2 is this headline on the front page of the May 4 edition of The Washington Post: "U.S. Options in Pakistan Limited."

News item No. 3 is a quote in Jackson Diehl's May 4 column in The Washington Post from a senior Obama administration official: "It's not good when your national security interests are dependent on a country over which you have almost no influence."

In a matter of two weeks, we have gone from witnessing the U.S. secretary of state testify to Congress that a nuclear Pakistan run by Islamist radicals would be a "mortal threat" to America to hearing the administration admit that we have limited options to avoid such a threat.

What are we to make of such a development? I and many others had previously warned of the dangers of a nuclear "Talibanistan" (which have been obvious and talked about for years). Experts I have talked to in the past week do not believe Clinton is overstating the case. Nor do I. She is very careful with her words -- and they fit the danger.

If Pakistan's nuclear weapons were to get into the hands of Taliban or al-Qaida, even unlaunched, they would provide the weapons-grade fissile materiel necessary to create a nuclear holocaust, here in the United States or elsewhere.

How did it come to be that the government of the most powerful nation in the history of humanity (with a population of 300 million-plus and a gross domestic product of about $14 trillion, which is larger than the second-, third- and fourth-largest economies -- Japan, Germany and China -- combined) has confessed that its options are limited regarding a "mortal threat" to it? former rep...
Have you forgotten that a bunch of 7th century misanthropes from a country 90% of the pub. sch. grads in the US couldn't find with a cheat sheet, pretty well wiped the floor with mighty fortress America on 9/11? Give those same fellows a pirated cargo ship, (gee that'd be tough. Betcha I know where a few are...)a scud and just one of the Paki's big boomers and it's an EMP night-night for much of the eastern seaboard. So, let's see. Hmmm, we got Iran who hates everybody and is just waiting patiently by a well for a good news sound bite; Remember, the Iran who has or is very close to getting nukes and who already has delivery systems and a target? We got the nuke armed Paks who may be ready to knuckle under to the Taliban. We got N. Korea and the sweet and rational 'Maximum Leader' who doesn't answer our emails anymore and has nukes and is close to sending a special delivery from over the sea. (right over Poland) We got India who chaffs to regain face after the Mumbai massacre and may decide to nuke the Paks before the Tali-Paks nuke them. And for a wild card-if one is needed- we got Israel ready to turn Iran and probably Syria and possibly a few more irritants into Salvidor Dali landscapes.
"Why waste a good crisis?" Sound familiar? How catchy!
Hell, you're right "former' why worry? We're America! Yeah, I feel so much better now...

Fear mongering
So the most powerful country this planet has ever seen is in "mortal danger" of being wiped out by: A) Pakistan- A country that can not prevent a bunch of illiterate cave dwellers from taking over. B) A bunch of illiterate cave dwellers. or C) Afghanistan- Which is less a country and more of a group of illiterate tribes. None of these groups has a navy or any other means to get troops to America. But wait...what about Pakistans vast nuclear arsenal? You mean like Iraq supposedly had? Same people telling the same story only the name of the country has changed.

This is more fabricated "danger" for our government to "save" us from. It won't be long until the same group of idiots that voted for the Mighty "O" and many of the idiots that voted for McCain will be so scared for their physical and financial safety that they will be begging to either create or join a single global government in order to "protect" themselves. The following quote should clarify what's been going on "behind the curtain" for many years.

"We are grateful to the Washington Post, the New York Times,TIME magazine, and other great publications, whose directors have attended our meetings, and respected their promises of discretion for almost forty years. It would have been impossible for us to develop our plan for the world if we had been subjected to the lights of publicity during those years. But the world is more sophisticated now and prepared to march towards a world government. The supranational sovereignty of an intellectually elite and world bankers is surely preferable to the national auto-determination practiced in past centuries." David Rockefeller,Council on Foreign Relations speech,1991

I prefer to live by the words of B. Franklin who said, "Those that would sacrifice liberty for a sense of safety deserve neither."
